Tsate, Mozambique

Tsate is a 50MW hydro power project. It is planned on Revue river/basin in Manica, Mozambique. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2023 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2025.

Description

The project is being developed by Cazembe Holding, Electricidade de Mocambique EP, Hydroparts Holding and Sonipal de Mocambique. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

Tsate is a run-of-river project. The gross head of the project will be 139.3m. The project is expected to generate 375 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $250m.

The hydro power project consists of 3 units of francis turbines.

The nameplate capacity of electric generator(s) to be installed at the project site is 20 MVA.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.
