Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant, Saudi Arabia

Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant is a 483.7MW gas fired power project. It is located in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in March 2006.

The project was developed by Tihama Power Generation. Engie and Saudi Oger are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.

It is a Gas Turbine with Cogen power plant. The fuel is procured from Saudi Arabian Oil Company.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in March 2006.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Saudi Arabian Oil under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

Contractors Involved

Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering was selected to render EPC services for the Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant (Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant II) project. Mitsui was selected to render EPC services for the Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant (Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant I) project.

Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant (Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant I) is equipped with GE Power 7F.04 gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines.

Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant (Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant II) is equipped with GE Power gas turbines.

Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering supplied steam boiler for the Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant (Uthmaniyah Cogeneration Plant I).

The company is engaged in the generation of electricity and steam through its four plants installed, with installed capacity of 1,085 MW. The company is on a long term contract to supply electricity and steam to Saudi Aramco, under a build-operate-own-transfer (BOOT) model.
