The Vung Ang Coal Fired Power Plant II is 1,200MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Ha Tinh, Vietnam. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. Description
The project is being developed by Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Joint Stock. The project is currently owned by Korea Electric Power with a stake of 40% and Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Joint Stock.
It is a steam turbine power plant.
The project cost is expected to be around $2,200m.
The thermal power project will consists of 2 turbines each with 600 MW nameplate capacity.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by January 2025.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Electricity Corporation of Vietnam under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years.
Contractors Involved
China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, GE Power and Samsung C&T are expected to render EPC services for the coal fired power project.
