Description
The project was developed by Esken and is currently owned by Mersey Bioenergy.
The project supplies enough clean energy to power 35,000 households, offsetting 84,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $172.486m.
The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Wood waste which is a kind of wood by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development Status
The project got commissioned in February 2017.
Contractors Involved
Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor was selected to render EPC services for the biopower project.
Alstom was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 unit of Geared Reaction Turbine turbine with 23MW nameplate capacity.
Standardkessel Baumgarte Holding supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 81.7TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 468Degree Celsius. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 80bar.
Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor is the O&M contractor for the project.
