Description

The project was developed by Globeleq Africa, Sturdee Energy, SunEdison and TerraForm Global. The project is currently owned by Phakwe Power with a stake of 90%.

Witkop Solar Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 75 hectares.

The project generates 62,000MWh of electricity. The project cost is $154.81m.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in September 2014.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.22kWh for a period of 20 years, starting from 2014. The contracted capacity is 30MW.

Contractors Involved

ABB and SunEdison were selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.

Zhejiang Chint New Energy Development was selected as the supplier of PV modules for the project.

The inverters were procured from ABB for the project.

The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by Aveng.

ABB and SunEdison were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.
