Swedish renewable energy solutions provider Azelio has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with JD Aviation for reliable power supply in Pakistan.

The MoU signed with Azelio will see the replacement of parts for the backup systems with a sustainable and economical distributed electricity baseload.

Azelio CEO Jonas Eklind said: “Azelio’s technology enables a country like Pakistan to utilise its good solar conditions even when the sun does not shine.

“We are very pleased to have signed this MoU with JD Aviation, taking the first step towards a market introduction in Pakistan. We know that our technology can make a big difference in the region and we look forward to demonstrate it.”

“Azelio’s solution has shown great promise in terms of scalability and reliability for generating electricity, compared to other solar and storage technologies.”

According to figures released by World Bank in 2018, Pakistan on average has 75 power outages per month and is primarily dependent on the power backup systems for an uninterrupted power supply.

The signing of the new MoU will provide a new platform for the Swedish provider to introduce its technology to Pakistan’s energy market. The company believes that long-term energy storage with cost-effective electricity production will address the power supply issues in the region.

Last month, GE Power  announced that the first of two supercritical turbines were synchronised with Pakistan’s national grid.

This synchronisation took place at China Power Hub Generation Company’s (CPHGC) power plant, three months ahead of schedule.

The facility will have power generation capacity of 1,320MW.
