Trina Solar chairman and general manager Gao Jifan said: “The company will further enhance its core competitiveness through cost and scale advantages coming from our expansion of the production capacity of high-efficiency large-size solar cells. We will also seize market development opportunities for monocrystalline products, and enhance the company’s profitability and competitiveness with the advantage of policies in Yancheng that are forward looking and give invaluable support to the industry.”

In a statement, the company said it will use 10GW of its 210mm cells in its new Vertex 600W+ product series. It anticipates that these moves will help technological innovation in the industry, and offer more choice for lessening levellised cost of energy.

Additionally, Trina Solar plans to invest in its research and development for large-size cells and modules.  It says aims to ensure the average efficiency of newly-built passivated emitters and real cells reaches 23% by early 2021. It will also continue deploying battery and component technology to maintain its position in the market.

In November 2018, Trina Solar agreed to provide 190MW of its integrated PV solution TrinaPro to ACS Group’s subsidiary Cobra for a Spanish solar park.
