Deals this week: Voith, Orsted, EDF Renewables

Fujian Xiamen Pumped Storage (Xiamen) has awarded a contract to Voith for delivering hydropower technology to the 1.4GW Xiamen pumped storage plant in China.

Voith will supply four 35MW reversible pump turbines and generators, along with auxiliary equipment, for the Xiamen plant, as part of the agreement.

Based in Germany, Voith is engaged in the supply of equipment and hydropower technology, while Xiamen is a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China.

Aviva Investors has reached an agreement with Orsted for providing £400m ($450.8m) financing required for the construction of the Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm in the UK.

Aviva has invested the amount in fixed-rate and inflation-linked bonds as part of the agreement.

Based in the UK, Aviva Investors is a subsidiary of the Aviva Group and specialises in asset management and investor relations, while Orsted, based in Denmark, is engaged in wind power generation.

EDF Renewables and Canadian Solar have secured a total R$1.39bn ($373m) financing from multiple sources for the 399MW Pirapora solar park in Brazil.

EDF Renewables holds 80% interest in the solar park, while Canadian Solar holds the remaining interest.

The financing includes R$220m ($59m) from institutional investors through a private placement of infrastructure debentures and 18-year financing of R$529m ($142m) from the Brazilian Development Bank for constructing the Pirapora I project.

Financing secured for the Pirapora II project includes long-term project financing of R$366m ($99m) from Banco do Nordeste and the Northeast Constitutional Fund, as well as R$271m ($73m) long-term project financing from BNDES and the Brazilian National Climate Fund.

Based in France, EDF Renewables is a renewable energy generating company, while Canadian Solar is a manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.

Pattern Energy has awarded multiple contracts to Onyx InSight for providing predictive maintenance services for four wind farms in North America.

Onyx has agreed to install condition monitoring systems on 234 turbines in two wind farms along with providing monitoring analysis of maintenance data to Pattern Energy for a period of three years.

Based in the UK, Onyx InSight is a leading analytics, operations and maintenance company, while US-based Pattern Energy is an independent renewable energy producer.

50Hertz has awarded a €300m ($341m) contract to the consortium of NKT and Boskalis Subsea Cables and Flexibles for providing grid connection to the Orsted 2 offshore wind farm.

The consortium will supply and install approximately 8km of 220kV high-voltage AC XLPE onshore cable system and approximately 270km of 220kV high-voltage AC XLPE offshore export subsea cable system as part of the contract.

German company 50Hertz is engaged in providing power transmission systems, while NKT, based in Denmark, is engaged in supplying high-end cables and cable solutions.

Netherlands-based Boskalis specialises in balance-of-plant operations, subsea power cable installation, as well as subsea engineering and installation, and interconnectors.
