DEME Offshore has secured a contract to transport and install the jackets and topsides for two Hollandse Kust offshore substations.

Additionally, the company will take responsibility for the supply and installation of scour protection for the two substations. These will be installed at the Hollandse Kust (noord) and Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) wind farms, in the Dutch North Sea.

The joint venture Engie Solutions-Iemants, a subsidiary of Smulders, has awarded the contract. It will oversee the engineering, procurement, construction and offshore installation of the two substations.

According to DEME Offshore, about 40% of electricity requirements of the Netherlands will come from offshore wind farms by 2030.

DEME Offshore Business Unit director Bas Nekeman said: “The combination of Engie Solutions-Iemants’ extensive know-how, combined with our expertise in tailored solutions for the offshore wind industry, has proven to be successful in the past few years when we have worked closely together to achieve challenging projects such as the SeaMade and Moray East offshore wind farms.”

The company has scheduled the scour protection and jacket installation at the Hollandse Kust (noord) platform for the second half of this year. The topside for noord and the jacket for the west Alpha platform will be installed next year. The topside installation for the west Alpha platform will take place in 2023.
