EDF Renewables North America has closed an agreement to buy 300MW Milligan 1 Wind Project in Nebraska, US, for an undisclosed amount.

The company sealed a purchase agreement with York Nebraska Wind Partners, which is a partnership consisting of Aksamit Resource Management, and York Capital Management.

Currently, the project is under development and is expected to begin operations in late-2020.

The project is in Saline County, southern Nebraska. It will sell its produced energy and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) into the Southwest Power Pool.

Milligan 1 Wind is the first project for EDF Renewables in Nebraska.

Power produced is enough to cater to annual consumption requirements of up to 115,000 average homes.

It will help reduce 900,000t of CO₂ emissions a year, which is equivalent to emissions from 190,000 vehicles in 12 months.

A subsidiary of EDF Renouvelables, which is a renewable energy affiliate of EDF Group, EDF Renewables is a renewable energy developer in North America. It has 15GW of wind, solar, storage, projects developed in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Its portfolio also consists of 10GW under service contracts.
