EDF Renewables has placed aN order with Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas for the 273MW Las Majadas wind project in Texas.

Vestas will supply V120-2.2MW turbines for the Las Majadas wind project, which also includes previously purchased 2MW Vestas PTC components.

EDF Renewables North America Wind Technology Strategy vice-president Art Del Rio said: “The execution of the Las Majadas turbine supply agreement is a reflection of the continued growth of the long-standing partnership between Vestas and EDF Renewables in North America.

“The selection of the Vestas V120-2.2 turbine provides the best possible LCoE for the project, ensuring EDF Renewables delivers a competitive project to its customers.”

The order includes supply and commissioning of wind turbines. Vestas intends to begin the delivery of the turbines in the second quarter of 2020 with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2020.

It also includes a five-year active output management (AOM 5000) service agreement for enhanced performance for the project’s lifetime.
