A GE-led consortium has received an order to supply two combined cycle power units for Polska Grupa Energetyczna Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna’s (PGE) Dolna Odra power plant.
The power plant is located in Poland’s Western Pomerania region.

The consortium includes Polish company Polimex Mostostal, which secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract of the new units along with full underground infrastructure.

“This project will combine GE’s turnkey expertise with leading combined-cycle power plant technology to provide more flexible, sustainable and reliable electricity to the region for years to come.”
As per the terms of the contract, GE will deliver two 9HA.01 gas turbines and two STF-D650 steam turbines, which can generate up to 1.4GW of power at Dolna Odra.

GE noted that its Polish manufacturing facilities, located in Elblag and Wroclaw, will produce equipment for the project.
Additionally, GE has agreed to service the turbines under a 12-year contract.
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna management board president Wojciech Dąbrowski said: “PGE’s investment in the Dolna Odra power plant is our contribution to preparing the Polish power system for further development of renewable energy, in particular wind energy.”
Once the two units are commissioned in 2023, PGE’s low-emission power plant is expected to offset carbon dioxide emissions by two to three million tonnes annually.
