Shanghai Electric has signed an agreement to cooperate with leading N-type bifacial solar cells and modules manufacturer Jolywood on the construction of a power station.

The 320MW capacity power station will be built to provide clean and renewable energy to the Dubai Expo next year, with Jolywood supplying N-type high-efficiency bifacial modules.

Jolywood Group chairman Weijian Lin said: “Jolywood is striving to revolutionise the photovoltaic industry with the global supply of N-type bifacial technology. Through joint efforts, we aim to take the development of renewable energy to another level by setting a new benchmark for the industry.

“Looking forward, Jolywood will continue to bring renewable energy to the world as part of China’s Belt and Road initiative.”

For Jolywood, the deal is the largest overseas N-type bifacial power plant project, marking a significant milestone for the Chinese manufacturer.

The company intends to complete the two-stage delivery of the modules in the second half of next year and at the beginning of 2022 respectively.

In December last year, Jolywood unveiled two PV modules, the JW-HT&HD series ultra high-efficiency paving module and JW-HF series ultra-light flexible high-efficiency module.

Shanghai Electric Power Generation Engineering Company deputy general manager Xiaobin Cao said: “Its unique N-type high-efficiency technology equips the modules with lower degradation and better temperature coefficient making them suitable for use in the Middle East while providing a more stable, clean and sustainable electric power.”

In April this year, Shanghai Electric Group signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power to co-develop global solar projects.
