Indian power generation company JSW Energy’s subsidiary JSW Solar has secured contracts for 810MW of blended wind energy projects.

The company received the contracts in an auction conducted by the state-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The company floated the tender in June this year.

The auction ran tariff-based competitive bidding for setting up a 2.5GW interstate transmission system.

A JSW Solar spokesperson said that the solar power would constitute up to 20% of the blended wind energy project.

In a separate development, Indian state-run utility NTPC has synchronised a ‘supercritical’ 660MW thermal power plant in the state of Bihar with the power grid. The 660MW unit is part of a larger 3.3GW power project.

NTPC is reportedly developing five supercritical thermal power units, with 660MW capacity each, across 3,200 acres of land in the Patna district.

An NTPC spokesperson said that construction work on three units of the project’s first stage was delayed due to “contractual, execution and timeline issues” with Russian firm Technoprom Export.

Separately, Hitachi ABB Power Grids India and its partner Bharat Heavy Electricals have announced the completion of the first stage of a 6GW +/-800kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission link between Raigarh in Central India, and Pugalur in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
