German company Astronergy receives a license to supply 100MW of solar modules to Turkish photovoltaic projects.

The sale will help commence an addition of production lines in Astronergy's facility in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.

Astronergy has already secured supply contracts to provide the first modules of a 50MW capacity to Turkey, in the form of the ASM6610P module. The company received these contracts as a result of its long-standing contacts with the EPC Solmotion and its Turkish subsidiaries, as well as high-demands of premium-quality German modules in Turkey.

Astronergy's chief executive officer Thomas Volz said: “The local investors are specifically asking for high-quality modules, and they are prepared to pay more for them.

"Local investors are specifically asking for high-quality modules, and they are prepared to pay more for them."

“Quality is worth it because losses in yield are far less common than they are with photovoltaic (PV) projects that use poor quality modules.

“Our highly automated production also ensures that our module quality is not only very high but also consistent. That’s why, for example, we have an extremely low complaint rate of only 0.005%; word of this has clearly spread throughout the market.”

The PV modules at the Frankfurt facility are checked for microcracks and cell fracture at high-resolution and fully automatically using an electroluminescence-based process. Strict internal and external testing ensures that the quality of the company’s solar modules is above the defined certification standards.
