Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has renewed a contract to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the 504MW Greater Gabbard windfarm situated off the east coast of the UK for a period of five more years.

The deal was signed with owner of the farm Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm (GGOWL). It extends the tenure of an existing contract, which began in 2013.

As part of the extended contract, SGRE will offer scheduled servicing, troubleshooting, and technical support to the 140 SWT-3.6-107 turbines installed at the farm.

Onshore monitoring and diagnostics are also expected to be carried out from SGRE’s dedicated control room in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK.

SGRE Service CEO Mark Albenze said: “This five-year extension underscores our commitment to providing customers with value-driven service plans targeted to their specific operational needs and complemented with our advanced digital services that help drive down the costs associated with wind energy.”

SGRE is currently involved in the servicing of more than 23,000 turbines worldwide, totalling 54GW.
