The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has selected Canadian renewable energy company Boralex’s four solar projects.

The 180MW of solar projects have been selected under New York’s 2019 Renewable Energy Standard solicitation for the purchase of Tier-1 eligible renewable energy certificates (RECs).

The four solar projects are Greens Corners (120MW), Sandy Creek (19.99MW), Bald Mountain (19.99MW) and West River (19.99MW).

The four photovoltaic (PV) solar energy generation facilities are located in Upstate New York.

The Greens Corners and Sandy Creek solar facilities are located in Jefferson County. The Bald Mountain solar farm is in Washington County and the West River solar facility is situated in Saratoga County.

Boralex president and CEO Patrick Lemaire said: “New York’s Green New Deal is a nation-leading clean energy agenda that will aggressively put New York State on a path to achieve 70% of the state’s electricity from renewable energy by 2030, and Boralex is proud to be contributing to this movement.

“I would like to thank NYSERDA for this great opportunity and acknowledge the great work of my teams who demonstrated once again Boralex’s strong ability to adapt and stand out in a new market.”

Boralex will now be working with NYSERDA to execute the Renewable Energy Standard Agreements for the RECs purchase from the projects.

Nearly 50 to 100 construction jobs in addition to long-term job opportunities will be supported by each project.

New York’s 2019 Renewable Energy Standard solicitation (RESRFP19-1) has resulted in 21 agreements for 17 solar projects, which are expected to develop 1,278MW of capacity.
