Renewable energy projects developer OX2 is planning to construct four windfarms in Finland, which will have a combined clean energy generation capacity of more than 107MW.

Featuring 25 wind turbines, the four windfarms are reported to be the largest subsidy-free wind power construction in the Nordic region.

The windfarm Ponsivuori will be built in Southern Ostrobothnia, Verhonkulma in south-west Finland, while Långmossa and Ribäcken will be developed in the Ostrobothnia region.

The construction of the four wind projects is financed by Ikea Retail Finland, which is part of Ingka Group.

Ikea Retail Finland will acquire these projects once they become operational in 2020.

“One part of this commitment includes becoming energy independent by 2020 and with the investments in windfarms, we take a leap in efforts to produce as much renewable energy as our global units consume.”

OX2 is the current owner of the windfarms and the main contractor for the construction project. It will also manage the technical and commercial operation of the windfarms in Finland.

With an estimated production of approximately 360GWh a year, the windfarms will be equipped with Nordex’s N149 4MW-4.5MW wind turbines.

Previously, OX2 sold four windfarms to Ingka Group, with three of theses located in Sweden and one in Finland.
