Pattern Energy Group 2 (Pattern Development) has started operations on its 220MW Grady Wind power facility in New Mexico.

Located in Curry County, Grady Wind is the third and final phase of a 544MW wind facility. It’s completion marks the conclusion of New Mexico’s largest clean power investment.

Equipped with 84 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines with 2.6MW capacity, the wind facility is expected to generate enough clean energy sufficient to power nearly 90,000 homes in the region.

The power generated by Grady Wind will be supplied to the Western Interconnect transmission line under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The Western Interconnect transmission line was also developed and placed into service in 2017 by Pattern Development.

The facility is currently delivering economic benefits to the region in the form of land lease payments to local landowners and tax revenue for the host communities of eastern New Mexico.

Grady Wind employs nearly 20 full-time members to manage the maintenance and operations activities of the facility. Pattern Energy will operate the Grady Wind facility, along with the neighbouring 324MW Broadview Wind facilities.
