The Cranell wind facility is said to be RWE’s second wind project to come online this year. The project saw an investment of $250m in the South Texas region.

During the construction phase, it created nearly 300 employment opportunities in the region.

Ortín added: “We are particularly proud this project was completed without a reportable safety incident, and many of the permanent positions at the facility were hired from the local region.

“With almost one gigawatt under construction, we have firmly established our position as an industry leader in the US.”

The company’s construction projects are located in Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio and New York State.
