US-based renewable energy developer Scout Clean Energy (Scout) has completed the construction of the 180MW Heart of Texas (HTX) Wind Farm.
It has also announced it has secured tax equity funding from GE Energy Financial Services and BHE Renewables for the wind facility.
Scout Clean Energy founder and CEO Michael Rucker said: “Heart of Texas was completed on time and under budget which is quite an achievement given the wide-spread disruption that Covid-19 has caused across the entire US economy.
“It is a real credit to Scout’s construction management team, our suppliers, contractors and financiers who have worked tirelessly to get to the finish line.
“Reaching commercial operations at Heart of Texas brings Scout’s operational portfolio of wind energy generation to 698MW, with a further 146MW under construction and more than 4,000MW in our active development pipeline.”

By GlobalDataLocated in McCulloch County, Texas, construction works for the HTX wind facility began last September. It has been equipped with 64 GE 2MW platform wind turbines.
For this project, Scout signed a fixed-price balance-of-plant construction agreement with RES Americas Construction.
The company, a part of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners (Quinbrook), said in a statement the construction financing of $255m was provided by KeyBank as Administrative Agent, Rabobank and CoBank, ACB.
Scout said that it will undertake asset management and post-construction operations.
Additionally, the project secured an offtake contract with Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty’s Alternative Risk Transfer unit, in partnership with Nephila Climate.
Last January, Scout Clean Energy completed construction financing and tax equity commitments for the 300MW Ranchero Wind Farm in Crockett County, Texas, US.
