German manufacturer Senvion has secured a contract for the supply of turbines for the 200MW Trianel Borkum II windfarm.

Located north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea, the wind farm can generate nearly 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power around 210,000 households per year.

The supply contract has been agreed with Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II (TWB II).

Last month, Senvion filed for self-administration proceedings after unsuccessful refinancing talks. As a result, the original general contract between Senvion and TWB II required adjustment. The turbine service deal remains unchanged.

The conditional contract for the turbine delivery and service was signed in September 2016 for the delivery of 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines with a power upgrade. The remaining 17 of the 32 wind turbines are due for delivery this autumn.

Senvion CEO Yves Rannou said: “We want to thank our customers of TWB II for the constructive talks. The positive outcome secures the continuation of one of our key offshore projects during these challenging times.”
