Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured a wind turbine supply contract for the 231MW Skaftåsen project in Sweden.

The SG 5.8-155 turbine was selected by Swedish project development firm Arise and infrastructure investment manager Foresight Group.

SGRE will supply 35 units of SG 5.8-155 wind turbines. The Skaftåsen project will be the first in the world to be equipped with SGRE’s wind turbines that have flexible power rating operating at 6.6MW.

Additionally, SGRE has signed the full-service agreement to maintain the units for a period of 30 years. The company noted that it intends to install the wind turbines at the site during the second quarter of 2021.
