Turkey is set to announce the names of successful bidders of the four wind power plants under the Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) scheme.

Turkey Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez revealed that several companies have filed their bids for the four tenders.

Dönmez was quoted by Daily Sabah as saying: “This is a very pleasing development for the renewable energy sector. The high interest proves the confidence in the Turkish economy and energy market.”

Unlike the tender that was issued on August 2017 for 1000MW, this time the Turkish government has called the tender in the form of four 250MW plants, which will be located in four different provinces  – Aydın, Muğla, Balıkesir and Çanakkale.

Germany’s Enercon, Turkey’s Enerjisa, Eze İnşaat and İklim Elektrik submitted bids for Aydın wind farm. Companies such as Beyçelik, Res Anatolia, and Çinili Res have submitted bids for Balıkesir plant.

“The high interest proves the confidence in the Turkish economy and energy market.”

Enercon, Turkey’s Enerjisa, Eze İnşaat and İklim Elektrik participated in the tender for the Muğla plant.

The bids will be evaluated and the tender results for the four wind farms will be released on 30 May. The tender winner will have to sign a 15-year purchase agreement with the ministry under a power plant license, which will be valid for a period of 49 years.

Last year, YEKA’s first project for 1GW attracted $1bn in investment.
