The company selected Ethiopia to establish its new hub due to its strategic location and market conditions. The region also offers a hydropower potential of 45,000MW.

A number of Ethiopian hydropower plants are currently equipped with Voith technology, which is supplying clean and sustainable electricity to nearly 900,000 households in the country.

In addition to Ethiopia, the company is providing its services to hydropower projects in other East African countries, including the Wanjii power plant in Kenya.

For the plant, Voith will replace the turbines, generators, control technology, and electrical and mechanical equipment to increase its capacity by 20%.
