Finnish construction firm YIT has announced the sale of project rights of its Murtomäki wind farm to Ålandsbanken Wind Power Fund.

Located in the town of Pyhäjärvi in Northern Ostrobothnia, the Murtomäki wind farm project features 15 wind power plants, which have an energy generation capacity of nearly 90MW.

YIT said that the project has been sold with all required permits.

Additionally, the company has agreed to provide contracting and construction services for Murtomäki wind farm infrastructure to the buyer.

YIT Infrastructure Projects executive vice-president Harri Kailasalo said: “This project strongly supports our climate goals, since the Murtomäki wind farm produces an amount of renewable domestic electricity that is equal to the consumption of approximately 15,000 single-family houses annually.

In addition to Murtomäki wind farm project, YIT is developing other wind power projects with approximately 100 wind turbines.

The company added that the development of wind power projects is an important part of its work towards achieving its long-term climate goals.

Furthermore, YIT aims to halve its carbon emissions in its self-developed projects by 2030 when compared to 2019.

Slated for launch this month, Ålandsbanken Wind Power Fund is a special fund which will focus its investments primarily in Nordic wind farms that have all the permits and are ready to be constructed or already running in accordance with its strategy.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
