GlobalData Epidemiologist Report: Covid-19 infections climbing rapidly in Peru and South Africa – global deaths near 591,000

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have exceeded 13.8 million with over 590,000 deaths and 7,735,000 recoveries.

Peru has surpassed Mexico in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, and now has the second highest number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in Central and South America behind Brazil.

Central and South America remains an epicenter for Covid-19, with four countries being among the top ten countries with the highest confirmed number of Covid-19 cases.

The number of new confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa yesterday was over 12,000.

South Africa has moved up from the eighth highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases globally to the sixth highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases globally.
