Asia-Pacific power plant tenders activity up 5% in August 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 77 power plant tenders announced in the Asia-Pacific region in August 2020, marking a rise of 5% over the last 12-month average of 73, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in August 2020 with 116 tenders and a 34.4% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 105 tenders and a 31.2% share and Power Plant with 77 tenders and a 22.8% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 69 tenders and an 89.6% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 6.5% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three tenders and a 3.9% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in August 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 71 tenders with a 92.2% share, followed by hydro with five tenders and a 6.5% share and thermal with one tender and a 1.3% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in August 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. NTPC (India): 1,070.13MW from two tenders
  2. Ceylon Electricity Board (Sri Lanka): 300MW from one tender
  3. Energy Efficiency Services (India): 279MW capacity from one tender.
