Asia-Pacific power plant tenders activity down 27% in February 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 63 power plant tenders announced in the Asia-Pacific region in February 2020, marking a drop of 27% over the last 12-month average of 86, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in February 2020 with 262 tenders and a 50.3% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 103 tenders and a 19.8% share and Generation Equipment with 79 tenders and a 15.2% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 56 tenders and an 88.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five tenders and a 7.9% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 3.2% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in February 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 57 tenders with a 90.5% share, followed by thermal with four tenders and a 6.3% share and wind with two tenders and a 3.2% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in February 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Ministry of Energy, Uzbekistan: 2,100MW from three tenders
  2. JSC National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan: 1,900MW from two tenders
  3. NTPC (India): 1,800.65MW capacity from three tenders.
