Asia-Pacific power plant tenders activity down 5% in June 2019

There were 96 power plant tenders announced in the Asia-Pacific region in June 2019, marking a drop of 5% over the last 12-month average of 101, according to GlobalData's power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in June 2019 with 356 tenders and a 53.3% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 114 tenders and a 17.1% share and Power Plant with 96 tenders and a 14.4% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 70 tenders and a 72.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 16 tenders and a 16.7% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: eight tenders and an 8.3% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific Power Plant tenders in June 2019

Looking at power plant tenders by type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 81 tenders with a 79.4% share, followed by hydro with ten tenders and a 9.8% share and thermal with five tenders and a 4.9% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant segment tenders in June 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant segment tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 10,200MW from four tenders
  2. NTPC (India): 1,184MW from three tenders
  3. Mahagenco (India): 750MW capacity from one tender.
