Asia-Pacific power plant tenders activity up 8% in June 2020

There were 79 power plant tenders announced in the Asia-Pacific region in June 2020, marking a rise of 8% over the last 12-month average of 73, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in June 2020 with 179 tenders and a 41.9% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 126 tenders and a 29.5% share and Power Plant with 79 tenders and an 18.5% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 74 tenders and a 93.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 3.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 2.5% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in June 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 76 tenders with a 97.4% share, followed by wind with one tender and a 1.3% share and hydro with one tender and a 1.3% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in June 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Railway Energy Management (India): 1,400MW from two tenders
  2. West Bengal State Electricity Distribution (India): 125MW from one tender
  3. Assam Power Distribution (India): 100.02MW capacity from five tenders.
