Asia-Pacific power plant tenders activity up 22% in October 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 90 power plant tenders announced in the Asia-Pacific region in October 2020, marking a rise of 22% over the last 12-month average of 74, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in October 2020 with 115 tenders and a 33.7% share, followed by T&D Project with 98 tenders and a 28.7% share and Power Plant with 90 tenders and a 26.4% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 69 tenders and a 76.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 12 tenders and a 13.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine tenders and a 10% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in October 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 80 tenders with an 87% share, followed by hydro with five tenders and a 5.4% share and thermal with three tenders and a 3.3% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in October 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (India): 250MW from one tender
  2. NHPC (India): 165MW from two tenders
  3. Oil India (India) and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (India): 100MW capacity from one tender.
