Asia-Pacific power plant tenders activity down 29% in Q1 2020

There were 193 power plant tenders announced in the Asia-Pacific region in Q1 2020, marking a drop of 29% over the last 12-month average of 272, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q1 2020 with 737 tenders and a 49.9% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 335 tenders and a 22.7% share and Power Plant with 193 tenders and a 13.1% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 160 tenders and an 82.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 21 tenders and a 10.9% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: ten tenders and a 5.2% share

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Ministry of Economic Affairs ROC (Taiwan): 10,000MW from one tender
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 6,484MW from eight tenders
