Asia-Pacific Solar technology tenders activity drops 38% in January 2020

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in January 2020 saw 53 tenders announced, marking a drop of 38% over the last 12-month average of 85, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 40 tenders and a 75.5% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine tenders and a 17% share
  3. Supply & Erection: two tenders and a 3.8% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 3.8% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in January 2020 with 39 tenders and a 73.6% share, followed by Australia with eight tenders and a 15.1% share and Pakistan with three tenders and a 5.7% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in January 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,418MW from four tenders
  2. Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (India) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (India): 279MW from one tender
  3. Indore Smart City Development and NHPC (India): 100MW capacity from one tender.
