Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in March 2020 saw 60 tenders announced, marking a drop of 22% over the last 12-month average of 77, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 49 tenders and an 81.7% share
  2. Supply & Erection: five tenders and an 8.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three tenders and a 5% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 3.3% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 1.7% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in March 2020 with 48 tenders and an 80% share, followed by Nepal with five tenders and an 8.3% share and Pakistan with four tenders and a 6.7% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in March 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 7,066MW from four tenders
  2. NTPC (India): 735.1MW from two tenders
  3. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 700MW capacity from one tender.
