Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q1 2020 saw 190 tenders announced, marking a drop of 26% over the last four-quarter average of 256, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 155 tenders and an 81.6% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 16 tenders and an 8.4% share

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q1 2020 with 138 tenders and a 72.6% share, followed by Australia with 13 tenders and a 6.8% share and Pakistan with 12 tenders and a 6.3% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q1 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 9,484MW from eight tenders
  2. NTPC (India): 1,986.3MW from six tenders
  3. Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (India): 1,500MW capacity from three tenders.
