Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q4 2019 saw 191 tenders announced, marking a drop of 30% over the last four-quarter average of 273, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 142 tenders and a 74.3% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 19 tenders and a 9.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 14 tenders and a 7.3% share

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q4 2019 with 130 tenders and a 68.1% share, followed by Australia with 17 tenders and an 8.9% share and Pakistan with 15 tenders and a 7.9% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q4 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 3,000MW from four tenders
  2. NTPC (India): 2,614.16MW from ten tenders
  3. JSC Uzbekenergo (Uzbekistan): 900MW capacity from one tender.
