Energy storage tenders up 24% in November 2019

Energy storage tenders in November 2019 saw 26 tenders announced, marking a rise of 24% over the last 12-month average of 21, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 17 tenders and a 65.4% share
2. Power Purchase Agreement: five tenders and a 19.2% share
3. Project Implementation: four tenders and a 15.4% share.

North America leads energy storage activity in November 2019

Comparing tenders activity in energy storage segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 20 tenders and a share of 76.9% during November 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with three tenders and an 11.5% share and Middle East and Africa with two tenders and a 7.7% share.

Solar is leading technology for energy storage tenders in November 2019

Among the technologies, solar accounted for nine tenders with a 69.2% share, followed by thermal with two tenders and a 15.4% share and wind with one tender and a 7.7% share.

The top issuers of energy storage tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

1. Agency for Non Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (India): 10.03MW from two tenders
2. East Bay Community Energy (United States), Peninsula Clean Energy (United States) and Silicon Valley Clean Energy (United States): 10MW from one tender
3. Silicon Valley Power (United States): 2.7MW capacity from one tender.
