Europe power industry tenders activity in March 2020 saw 53 tenders announced, marking a drop of 36% over the last 12-month average of 83, according to GlobalData’s power database.

Europe power industry tenders in March 2020: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in March 2020 with 27 tenders and a share of 50.9%, up 7.2% over the previous month and down 7% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with six tenders and a share of 11.3% and the UK with three tenders and a share of 5.7% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 29 tenders, followed by Germany with eight and France with three tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in March 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with nine tenders and a 52.9% share, followed by solar with three tenders and a 17.6% share and wind with one tender and a 5.9% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in March 2020, with 18 tenders, followed by Power Plant (11) and T&D Equipment (10).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 24 tenders and a 45.3% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 15 tenders and a 28.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven tenders and a 13.2% share
  4. Electricity Supply: four tenders and a 7.5% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 5.7% share.

Power tenders in March 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Government of the Federation of Bosnia And Herzegovina (Bosnia and Herzegovina): 60MW from one tender
  2. Miejska Energetyka Cieplna: 8.72MW from one tender.
