Europe power industry tenders activity in Q2 2019 saw 237 tenders announced, marking a drop of 20% over the last four-quarter average of 296, according to GlobalData's power database.

Europe power industry tenders in Q2 2019: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in Q2 2019 with 80 tenders and a share of 33.8%, up 6.9% over the previous quarter and down 29% when compared with the last four-quarter average.

In second place was Russian Federation with 15 tenders and a share of 6.3% and in third place was France with 14 tenders and a share of 5.9% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, Poland held the top spot with 112 tenders, followed by Germany with 20 and Russian Federation with 19 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q2 2019

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, Thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 31 tenders and a 35.2% share, followed by Solar with 20 tenders and a 22.7% share and Nuclear with 16 tenders and an 18.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in Europe power tenders activity during Q2 2019, with 74 tenders, followed by T&D Project (71) and Generation Equipment (48).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection with 112 tenders and a 47.3% share
  2. Project Implementation with 65 tenders and a 27.4% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others with 34 tenders and a 14.3% share.

Power tenders in Q2 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministro do Ambiente e da Transicao Energetica (Portugal) with 700MW from one tender
  2. The Regulatory Authority for Energy (Greece) with 600MW from two tenders
  3. Georgian Energy Development Fund (Georgia) with 50MW capacity from one tender.
