Europe power plant tenders activity up 77% in July 2020

There were 23 power plant tenders announced in the Europe region in July 2020, marking a rise of 77% over the last 12-month average of 13, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in July 2020 with 25 tenders and a 28.1% share, followed by Power Plant with 23 tenders and a 25.8% share and T&D Equipment with 19 tenders and a 21.3% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 18 tenders and a 78.3% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five tenders and a 21.7% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant tenders in July 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for ten tenders with a 43.5% share, followed by thermal with four tenders and a 17.4% share and wind with four tenders and a 17.4% share.

Europe power plant tenders in July 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey): 1,000MW from one tender
  2. Ministere de la transition ecologique et solidaire (France): 250MW from one tender
  3. RheinEnergie (Germany): 18.8MW capacity from one tender.
