Europe power plant tenders activity up 67% in October 2020

There were 30 power plant tenders announced in the Europe region in October 2020, marking a rise of 67% over the last 12-month average of 18, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in October 2020 with 32 tenders and a 29.1% share, followed by T&D Project with 31 tenders and a 28.2% share and Power Plant with 30 tenders and a 27.3% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 23 tenders and a 76.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 13.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three tenders and a 10% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant tenders in October 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 21 tenders with a 70% share, followed by wind with four tenders and a 13.3% share and thermal with two tenders and a 6.7% share.

Europe power plant tenders in October 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministere de l’Energie et de l’Amenagement du territoire: 40MW from one tender
  2. EDF Renewables Ireland: 30MW from one tender
  3. Electricity Authority of Cyprus (Cyprus): 12MW capacity from one tender.
