Europe power plant tenders activity up 103% in Q3 2020

There were 81 power plant tenders announced in the Europe region in Q3 2020, marking a rise of 103% over the last 12-month average of 40, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q3 2020 with 83 tenders and a 24.7% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 81 tenders and a 24.1% share and Power Plant with 81 tenders and a 24.1% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 65 tenders and an 80.2% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: ten tenders and a 12.3% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 7.4% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant tenders in Q3 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 47 tenders with a 56.6% share, followed by thermal with 13 tenders and a 15.7% share and wind with 12 tenders and a 14.5% share.

Europe power plant tenders in Q3 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 18,800MW from one tender
  2. Ministry of Climate (Poland): 3,200MW from one tender
  3. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey) and Energinet Eltransmission (Denmark): 1,000MW capacity from one tender.
