Europe power plant tenders activity up 3% in Q4 2019

There were 36 power plant tenders announced in the Europe region in Q4 2019, marking a rise of 3% over the last 12-month average of 35, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q4 2019 with 82 tenders and a 30.4% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 63 tenders and a 23.3% share and Generation Equipment with 56 tenders and a 20.7% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 25 tenders and a 69.4% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and a 16.7% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 13.9% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant tenders in Q4 2019

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 19 tenders with a 52.8% share, followed by wind with nine tenders and a 25% share and thermal with six tenders and a 16.7% share.

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey): 1,000MW from one tender
  2. Elektrani na Makedonija (Macedonia): 110MW from one tender
  3. Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-estruturas do Alqueva (Portugal), The World Bank Group (United States) and Government Of Kosovo (Kosovo): 50MW capacity from one tender.
