Generation equipment tenders down 45% in March 2020

Generation equipment tenders in March 2020 saw 102 tenders announced, marking a drop of 45% over the last 12-month average of 184, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 74 tenders and a 72.5% share
2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 28 tenders and a 27.5% share.

Asia-Pacific leads generation equipment activity in March 2020

Comparing tenders activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 54 tenders and a share of 52.9% during March 2020, followed by North America with 39 tenders and a 38.2% share and Europe with five tenders and a 4.9% share.

Thermal is leading technology for generation equipment tenders in March 2020

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for 95 tenders with a 92.2% share, followed by solar with six tenders and a 5.8% share and wind with two tenders and a 1.9% share.
