Generation equipment tenders down 12% in Q2 2020

Generation equipment tenders in Q2 2020 saw 462 tenders announced, marking a drop of 12% over the last four-quarter average of 526, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 289 tenders and a 62.6% share
2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 167 tenders and a 36.1% share
3. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 0.9% share
4. Project Implementation: two tenders and a 0.4% share.

North America leads generation equipment activity in Q2 2020

Comparing tenders activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 249 tenders and a share of 53.9% during Q2 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 138 tenders and a 29.9% share and Europe with 59 tenders and a 12.8% share.

Thermal is leading technology for generation equipment tenders in Q2 2020

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for 409 tenders with an 88.3% share, followed by solar with 30 tenders and a 6.5% share and hydro with 15 tenders and a 3.2% share.
