Generation equipment tenders in Q2 2021 saw 438 tenders announced, marking a drop of 6% over the last four-quarter average of 467, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 296 tenders and a 67.6% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 137 tenders and a 31.3% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 1.1% share.

North America leads generation equipment activity in Q2 2021

Comparing tenders activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 228 tenders and a share of 52.1% during Q2 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 83 tenders and an 18.9% share and Middle East and Africa with 82 tenders and an 18.7% share.

Thermal is leading technology for generation equipment tenders in Q2 2021

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for 380 tenders with an 87% share, followed by solar with 36 tenders and an 8.2% share and wind with seven tenders and a 1.6% share.
