Power industry tenders activity in June 2019 saw 971 tenders announced, marking a drop of 1% over the last 12-month average of 977, according to GlobalData’s power database.

Power industry tenders in June 2019: Asia-Pacific leads global activity

On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 558 tenders and a share of 57.5% during June 2019, followed by North America with 175 tenders and an 18% share and Middle East and Africa with 153 tenders and a 15.8% share.

In fourth place was Europe with 75 tenders and a 7.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with ten tenders and a 1% share.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Asia-Pacific held a lead over other regions with 590 tenders, followed by North America with 160.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in June 2019

Looking at tenders by the type of technology, Thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 205 tenders and a 55.1% share, followed by Solar with 112 tenders and a 30.1% share and Hydro with 28 tenders and a 7.5% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment during June 2019, with 357 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (254) and Generation Equipment (205).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection with 390 tenders and a 40.2% share
  2. Project Implementation with 308 tenders and a 31.7% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others with 241 tenders and a 24.8% share.

Power tenders in June 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India  (India) with 7,800MW from two tenders
  2. University of Szczecin (Poland) with 2,967MW from one tender
  3. NTPC (India) with 2,184MW capacity from four tenders.
