Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders activity up 82% in Q2 2021

There were 82 generation equipment tenders announced in the Middle East and Africa region in Q2 2021, marking a rise of 82% over the last four-quarter average of 45, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q2 2021 with 309 tenders and a 52.7% share, followed by T&D Project with 90 tenders and a 15.4% share and Generation Equipment with 82 tenders and a 14% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 62 tenders and a 75.6% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 17 tenders and a 20.7% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 3.7% share.

Thermal is top technology for Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders in Q2 2021

Looking at generation equipment tenders by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, thermal accounted for 63 tenders with a 76.8% share, followed by solar with 17 tenders and a 20.7% share and hydro with one tender and a 1.2% share.
