Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders activity down 44% in Q4 2019
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 36 generation equipment tenders announced in the Middle East and Africa region in Q4 2019, marking a drop of 44% over the last 12-month average of 64, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q4 2019 with 147 tenders and a 42.4% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 104 tenders and a 30% share and Generation Equipment with 36 tenders and a 10.4% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 29 tenders and an 80.6% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven tenders and a 19.4% share.

Thermal is top technology for Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders in Q4 2019

Looking at generation equipment tenders by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, thermal accounted for 33 tenders with a 94.3% share, followed by solar with two tenders and a 5.7% share.
